The 2010 VH1 Hip Honors commenced tonight, and I’m not going to say too much on it, it spoke for itself.
The inductees were: Luke, J-Prince, Jermaine Dupri, Master P, Timbaland, Organized Noise, and 2 Live Crew.
Instead of a show recap, I’m gonna put a few blurbs from my eyes in the show…
- Bow Wow performing Kris Kross– (blank stare) it tainted the song for me… the highlight was my mother asking me did he ever grow? LOL
- Gucci Mane performing “I Miss My Homies”– sorry Gucci fans, but all I saw was a walking white suit b/c the dude is so black…
- Mystikal coming out for his part in “Make ‘Em Say Uhhh”- A lot of people do seem to forget he served time for rape. They need to think about that while still persecuting Chris Brown. Not condoning what Chris Brown did by any means, but rape is serious as well.
- Jermaine Dupri performing “Money Ain’t a Thang” brought me back…
- Keri Hilson looking good… least until she almost fell… and she was not sounding her best at all. I’ve seen her perform better on TV.
- Romeo- didn’t you play basketball? Oh yeah, DeRozan left, then Tim Floyd left… never mind.
- I ain’t mind Drake performing Pimp C’s verse in Get Throwed… (RIP Pimp C)
- T.I. should’ve performed instead of presented… Heck do the verse that put him on the map in “Never Scared”.
- Speaking of “Never Scared” BoneCrusher gained ALL of his weight he lost on Celebrity Fit Club AND then some… (sigh)
- I was griping all night on how there was no Dirty South Honors w/o Scarface (Houston), OutKast (Atlanta), and where the heck was Memphis in this whole thing? But two of the three mysteries were solved right here.
I give the show a C. It could’ve been bigger, and I know that every Hip Hop Honors is from Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, but why not have it in Atlanta? That would’ve made it more special. I digress now.
